Navigate All Collections Chords Guitar Easiest guitar chords for beginners
This compilation contains all the main chords from not 1 but 3 musical Keys (A-major, G-major and D-major) which means the number of songs you can play with them is enormous—think thousands! I've mindfully removed all distractions to let you focus on just placing your fingers and actually playing the chords.

Chords in this collection

C, A, G, E, D, Em, Am

Easily playable

One and the same guitar chord can be played the hard way or an easy way suitable for a beginner player. Notes that make up these chords have been carefully chosen so that if you've never picked up a guitar before you could play them all and make music from day one. With the exception of the C chord, all chords span no more than 2 frets which is extremely beginner-friendly when you're starting out with a guitar. So your C chord is likely the hardest of the simplest in this collection.

Sets of chords

Even though you can mix and match these chords however you like (really, if it sounds good to you then it's good enough), it will be beneficial if you know that they are compiled from 3 different scales (think "families"). You can also think of them simply as sets of chords that sound good together. The 3 sets are:
  • G/Am/C/D/Em (let's call this set G-major)
  • D/Em/G/A (this is D-major)
  • A/D/E (and this is A-major)
As long as you pick chords from 1 set (or group) you can play them in any order, and they will all sound good together. But be brave—create your very own set, try it.
